Chateau Montelena Winery in the Movies?
In 2006, Chateau Montelena Winery celebrated their 30th anniversary of the 1976 Paris Tasting, where Chateau Montelena’s Chardonnay won the event with top honors. An independent film entitled “Bottle Shock,” is loosely based on the events and situations that lead up to the historic day. Bottle Shock has made its debut at The Sundance Film Festival. Bottle Shock features actors Jim Barrett, Bill Pullman, Chris Pine, Bo Barrett, and Alan Rickman as Steven Spurrier. Bottle Shock will open in selected markets beginning August 8th 2008. To find out how the events actually happened, be sure to read “The Judgement Of Paris,” by George Taber.
Bottle Shock is generating quite a buzz about Chateau Montelena wines again. They continue to be short on supply, so if you find one, be sure to grab a few of them. The estate vineyard is comprised of varied land. From flat to steep hills. Chateau Montelena is known to have a rich and full bodied Cabernet, with unique earth tones with berries.
The source of their famous Chardonnay is located in the South Central Napa Valley appellation near Mt. Veeder and Dry Creek Valley Road on the west of Napa Valley. Their Chardonnay has been described as floral, apple aroma and refreshing on the palate.
Be sure to visit Chateau Montelena. If you visit before the movie becomes a huge success, you’ll be part of the “in crowd,” and people will put you on a pedestal as a wine guru.
